400,000+ Immigrants Snuck Across the Border. Will Biden Take Action?

Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott announced that more than 400,000 immigrants have illegally entered the United States without being apprehended in 2021. Understaffing and a lack of support from the Biden administration enabled hundreds of thousands of immigrants, victims of human trafficking and record amounts of drugs, including deadly fentanyl, to be moved across the border.

The announcement by Chief Scott comes as reports of a wave of 60,000 Haitian immigrants is making its way to the border.

Republicans have denounced the Biden-Harris administration for their failure to end the crisis at the border. On Wednesday, 10 Republican governors gathered in Texas to announce their own 10-point plan to end the security and humanitarian disaster.

Fox News: The governors unveiled a 10-point plan to reverse the crisis, including actions they said Biden could take with the stroke of a pen. It includes the full restoration of the Trump-era Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) — which kept migrants in Mexico for their immigration proceedings. The administration was recently ordered by a federal court to restart the policy.

Separately, the governors call for the end of “catch-and-release,” more border wall construction, an expansion of Title 42 expulsions, deployment of more federal law enforcement to the border and for the administration to provide more resources to keep the border secure.

Bottom Line: The Biden-Harris administration is failing the American people, but Republicans are taking strong action to address the crisis at the southern border.
