Walter Shaub, the director of President Obama’s ethics office, has been in the headlines a great deal lately. While the attention has primarily focused on recent events, America Rising thought it valuable to take a closer look at his role in Hillary Clinton’s unethical paid speeches. In the timeline below, anyone can clearly see that Shaub had one set of rules for the Clintons and has another one for Republicans today:

January 2012: Walter Shaub donates to Barack Obama’s presidential campaign.

January 2013: President Obama appoints Shaub to become Director of the Office of Government Ethics.

May 2015: Reports disclose that Hillary Clinton failed to report up to $26.4 million in speech fees from “major corporations, universities, foreign sources and other groups.” The speeches were given by Hillary, Bill, and Chelsea Clinton, and indicated that the Clintons had not “fully complied with a 2008 ethics agreement.”

May 2015: Office of Government Ethics defends Hillary Clinton’s lack of disclosure.

May 2015: Politico reports that “several experienced ethics lawyers” contradict Obama’s ethics office and say Clinton’s speech fees should have been disclosed.

December 2015: Walter Shaub testifies in front of the House Oversight Committee. During the hearing, Shaub “struggled to explain” his reasoning for supporting Clinton’s decision to not disclose speech fees.
