BREAKING: Sanders-Backed Primary Challenger Crushes DNC Chair In Latest Fundraising Numbers
In the second quarter, insurgent primary challenger Tim Canova outraised DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Canova outraised Wasserman Schultz by nearly $400,000. Canova raised $1.7 million while Wasserman Schultz only raised $1.31 million.
Wasserman Schultz has come under fire from within the Democratic Party as Senate and House candidates, and even Nancy Pelosi, have refused to say whether they support her remaining as chair of the DNC. She has repeatedly dodged questions about whether she will debate her primary opponent.
With Bernie Sanders firmly behind her opponent, and news yesterday that he may make a campaign appearance in Florida, Wasserman Schultz and the DNC face a very long month and a half before the August 30 primary.
