Cain’s Beleaguered Campaign Refuses To Take Down Deceptive Ad
Emily Cain’s struggling campaign in Maine’s 2nd congressional district took another serious hit this week. Yesterday, the Professional Logging Contractors of Maine called on Cain to take down her deceptive ad saying that it “leads people to believe that the majority of Maine Loggers support Emily Cain.” The president of the Professional Logging Contractors of Maine went on to further bash the dishonest nature of the ad by saying that it “doesn’t represent the feeling of the loggers.”
Emblematic of Cain’s sputtering campaign she also refused to take down the ad. It’s not surprising that Cain is resorting to such fraught tactics. A new Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram poll this week showed her trailing by double digits to Congressman Bruce Poliquin:
“Republican U.S. Rep. Bruce Poliquin is widening a lead over Democratic challenger Emily Cain in the race to represent Maine’s 2nd District, according to a new poll by the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram. Poliquin is now leading Cain by 10 percentage points among likely voters in the 2nd District…”
This poll is especially significant considering polls this summer showed a much closer race between Poliquin and Cain. If the polls keep trending Poliquin’s way who knows what kind of crazy ad Cain will put out next.
