California Democrat Continues Getting Snubbed By Labor Unions
Yesterday, the Sacramento Bee reported the California Labor Federation “snubbed” Democratic Rep. Ami Bera (CA-07) because of his free trade votes last year. The influential union of 2.1 million members, which supported Bera in previous races, took the unusual step of declining to endorse a candidate for the 7th District.
Bera has endured month after month of bad news as a result of his civil war with union activists, as he still refuses to take a position on the Trans-Pacific Partnership. The incumbent congressman even came very close to losing his endorsement from the state party (until Nancy Pelosi stepped in and saved him).
