Carol Shea Porter Has No Influence In Her Own State

As Hillary Clinton reels from a devastating loss in her one-time stronghold of New Hampshire, former Rep. Carol Shea-Porter’s full-throated endorsement of Clinton puts her at odds with her Party’s grassroots, who propelled Bernie Sanders to a landslide victory.

Last November, Shea-Porter wrote an op-ed in a local New Hampshire newspaper extolling Clinton as the best choice for President, saying:

“I supported President Obama in 2008 because he fought hard for policies to help the rest of us, and I’m supporting Hillary Clinton in 2016 for the same reason. She will defend the progress we’ve made and fight for further gains. Hillary fights for the rest of us – and I’m ready to fight alongside her for the rest of us also.”

Last night, however, both Clinton and Shea-Porter were rebuffed by the very New Hampshire voters they hoped to win over.

Clinton’s abject failure in New Hampshire is an embarrassing moment for repeat candidate Shea-Porter. Shea-Porter, who has been rejected by 1st District voters numerous times already, shows she has absolutely zero influence in her own state during one of its most important and politically active moments of the year.
