Cisnernos Flip Flops on Pelosi Promise

California Rep.-elect Gil Cisnernos is the first freshman Democrat to flip flop on his campaign promise to oppose Nancy Pelosi for Speaker. One of the major themes of his campaign was that he wanted to see new leadership in the party:

His change of heart comes after signing onto a letter just a few weeks ago reiterating his vow to vote against Pelosi. Now in his first official act as a member of Congress, he is breaking a promise to his constituents. Other freshman Democrats who made the same campaign promise are likely to vote “present,” which lowers the vote threshold to all but guarantee a Pelosi speakership.
