Clinton Foundation Pushed For Meeting With Shady Russian Oligarch
Russia’s aggressiveness in Eastern Europe and Syria continues to make Hillary Clinton’s reset look worse. New revelations published this morning in the Washington Examiner on the Clinton Foundation’s close connections with Russian oligarchs portray the closeness between Clinton and Russian leadership in an even worse light. The Washington Examiner’s report builds upon the reporting in Fox News on Clinton’s push to help Russian firms.
According to emails discovered by Citizens United, Clinton Foundation staff “pushed Hillary Clinton’s State Department” to approve a meeting between the 42nd President and Viktor Vekselberg, a Russian billionaire:
“New emails show Clinton Foundation staff pushed Hillary Clinton’s State Department to approve a meeting between Bill Clinton and a powerful Russian oligarch as her agency lined up investors for a project under his purview.”
These revelations are even more troublesome because Vekselberg’s business has recently been raided in the course of a bribery investigation:
“The Clinton’s’ relationship with Viktor Vekselberg, the billionaire whose name appears in the documents, has taken on new significance amid an expanding criminal investigation into his company. Last week, authorities raided the offices of Vekselberg’s firm, Renova Group, following allegations of bribery from several of Renova’s subsidiaries.”
It should come as no surprise to anyone familiar with the Clintons that Renova Group, the firm that was raided, donated between $50,000 and $100,000 to the Clinton Foundation. The Clintons’ connections to shady characters has Democrats refusing to defend the Clinton Foundation. This new Washington Examiner report must have these Democrats grateful they didn’t defend the Clintons’ indefensible actions.
