Clinton Pressed On Her Border Wall Inconsistencies
During a town hall in New Hampshire last November, Hillary Clinton bragged that she voted “numerous times” to build a border fence to keep illegal immigrants out of the country:
“Look, I voted numerous times when I was a senator to spend money to build a barrier to try to prevent illegal immigrants from coming in. And I do think you have to control your borders.”
But at today’s Iowa Black and Brown Forum, surrounded by immigration activists, Clinton changed her tone.
First, she called her use of the term “illegal immigrant” a “poor choice of words.” Then she argued with host Jorge Ramos over whether she voted to build a “wall” or a “fence.”
Clinton’s meandering defense was designed to distract voters from the fact that Clinton will say or do anything to win. In this case, that means in one primary state, Clinton says one thing about immigration, but says something else in another.
