Clinton Says We Need More Public Financing, Omits She Killed It In 2008
At an event in Urbandale, Iowa, Secretary Clinton claimed that she supports public financing of campaigns, going so far as to say “we need much more public financing in our campaign financing system.”
But in 2008, Clinton became the first presidential candidate ever to opt out of the public financing system – a move cited for killing public financing in 2008.
This isn’t the first time Clinton has tried to gloss over her past record on this issue. Clinton often decries “unaccountable money” in politics, but her campaign was also the first ever to coordinate directly with a super PAC that supports her.
This is yet another example voters cite when they say they don’t trust Clinton.
