CO Dem Backtracks Her Position On GITMO Detainee Transfers

Colorado Democrat Morgan Carroll can’t seem to get her answer straight when it comes to Guantanamo Bay detainees and their potential transfer to Colorado. Carroll, who is running for the U.S. House in the state’s 6th Congressional district, was recently quoted as saying, “It is absurd to say that I, or anyone else, wants to bring terrorists to Colorado.”

Last month, however, Carroll supported the closure of the Guantanamo Bay prison and said detainees should be moved to the U.S. to be tried and prosecuted. She went on to suggest that detainees could be held in Colorado “only if we are the safest place.”

It’s hard to say what’s more “absurd”: Carroll’s blatant attempt to walk back her comments or her hope that Colorado voters wouldn’t notice.
