Court Documents Back-Up Tara Reade’s Claim of Harassment in Joe Biden’s Office

Court documents from 1996 indicate that Tara Reade faced sexual harassment when she worked for then-Senator and now Presidential contender Joe Biden in 1993. Reade’s ex-husband wrote a court declaration as part of divorce proceedings where he indicated that Reade had told him of harassment she faced while working for Biden and that it appeared to affect her.

The Tribune: “Dronen wrote that Reade told him she ‘eventually struck a deal with the chief of staff of the Senator’s office and left her position.’

“‘It was obvious that this event had a very traumatic effect on (Reade), and that she is still sensitive and effected (sic) by it today,’ Dronen wrote.

The new court documents are the first piece of written documentation that appear to validate Reade’s story that she faced emotional and physical abuse during her time working for Biden. Reade accused Biden of sexual assault as the result of an alleged incident in the Capitol complex.

The court documents are another piece of evidence that backs up Reade’s assertion that she told other people during the 90’s about the assault. Reade’s former neighbor has said that Reade told her of the assault in 1995.

Biden’s team refused to directly respond to the new revelations but did provide a response from the Chief of Staff who apparently struck a deal with Reade for her to leave the office following the assault.
