Deborah Ross Attends Fundraiser At Home Of Taliban Lawyer
Deborah Ross has a radical past. Her time working as the executive director of ACLU-NC showcased her support for flag burning and her opposition to Christmas pageants. For someone with such a past, you’d think that she’d do her best to obscure her extremist ties. Yet tonight, according to the Washington Free Beacon, Ross will attend a fundraiser at home of Robert Elliot, lawyer for a number of Guantanamo Bay terrorists.
One of the Taliban fighters Elliot represented was one of the infamous Taliban leaders exchanged for the deserter Bowe Bergdahl:
“North Carolina Democrat Deborah Ross will attend a Tuesday night fundraiser at the home of the lawyer who represented one of the five Taliban terrorists who were released from Guantanamo Bay in exchange for U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl in 2014.”
Elliot has such a disregard for the United States’ national security that he tried to arrange the release of Khairullah Khairkhwa. Apparently Elliot was unconcerned that Khairkhwa was an associate of Osama Bin Laden and regarded as a “high risk” threat to the United States if released:
“Khairkhwa and the other four detainees were ‘bad guys’ who the Taliban had been working to free for decades, according to the Daily Beast. Internal Pentagon records on Khairkhwa, who was detained in 2002, show that he was classified as a ‘high risk’ threat to the United States and was associated with the Bin Laden terrorist network.”
Yet the fact that Ross is attending a fundraiser with Elliot should come as no surprise to North Carolina voters. After all, Ross called our nation’s intelligence agencies “dangerous.”
