Democrat Establishment Divided In Competitive New York Primary
House Democrats continue to struggle with competitive primary challenges this cycle. In New York’s 24th District, the state’s senators (Chuck Schumer and Kristin Gillibrand) are backing D.C. political operative Colleen Deacon. But tonight, Steve Israel, former chair of the DCCC, will attend a fundraiser for trial lawyer Steve Williams.
The Syracuse Post-Standard reports, “Israel’s support is also the first to expose a divide among Democratic leaders in Washington over which candidate to support in the 24th Congressional District race.”
So, once again, Democrats find themselves in the middle of yet another crowded primary.
