Democrats Distance Themselves From Clintons On Clinton Foundation
Weeks of negative headlines about the Clinton Foundation have taken a serious toll on Hillary Clinton. You can see that in all the prominent Democrats who are now willing to go on record criticizing the current foundation arrangement. Bill Clinton’s “reforms” have been repeatedly blasted by watchdog experts, and many Democrats are using that pretext to run far away from the Clintons on this issue.
Senator Dick Durbin, the second highest ranking Democrat and Senator Ben Cardin, the ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, have each called on the Clintons to make a break with the Clinton Foundation:
“‘There should be a complete break between Bill and Hillary and this foundation and its activities,’ Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), the second-ranking member of the Senate Democratic leadership, told an online Illinois news channel earlier this month… Sen. Ben Cardin (Md.), the senior Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, recently told Fox News Sunday, ‘they clearly need to change the way they do business.’”
Some Democrats have gone even further, saying the Clinton Foundation must be shut down completely:
“Some Democrats such as former Sen. Russ Feingold (D), who is running for his old seat in Wisconsin, and former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell (D) say the Clinton’s should shut down the foundation altogether if elected.”
Can you really blame this latter group of Democrats, given that each passing day brings more damaging new revelations about the Clinton Foundation? Today’s blockbuster revelation on the Clintons’ suspicious activities is a story in Politico detailing how the Clinton Foundation was subsidized by tax payer dollars:
“Taxpayer cash was used to buy IT equipment – including servers – housed at the Clinton Foundation, and also to supplement the pay and benefits of several aides now at the center of the email and cash-for-access scandals dogging Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.”
The Politico story also reports that even though Bill Clinton has raised billions for his foundation, he still is “drawing more cash from the Former President’s Act than any other ex-president.”
The Clintons truly have no shame. It should come as no surprise that as more of a spotlight is shown on their unethical actions, more Democrats jump ship.
