Democrats Double Down on Biden’s Radical Immigration Agenda as Border Crisis Worsens

In the wake of a surging crisis at the border, Democrats pushed two immigration bills through the House this week that would further encourage unlawful border crossings. These pieces of legislation represent the first steps in President Biden’s broader immigration plan to grant amnesty to 11 million illegal immigrants.

According to a report from USA Today, the legislation would “create a shorter process to legal status for agriculture workers and ‘dreamers.’” However, lawmakers are pointing out how the effort would further incentivize migrants to enter the country illegally.

“‘Why would you legalize anybody, sending another incentive to keep coming, until you stop the flow?’ said Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina and a leader of past bipartisan immigration efforts. ‘I just don’t see the politics of it — it’s just too out of control.’” – The New York Times

The Biden administration has faced criticism for repeatedly denying that the rising influx of migrants at the border is a crisis, and even Democrats admit Biden’s own rhetoric has greatly contributed to the problem.

“[Rep. Henry Cuellar], like many others, said Biden’s rhetoric was heavily responsible for the influx of migrants. Last week, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said the new U.S. president had stirred hopes for many Central Americans seeking to immigrate or reunite with loved ones already here.

“‘They see him as the migrant president,’ López Obrador told reporters.” – The Washington Post

As reported by NBC News, the Biden administration’s decision not to expel unaccompanied minors has created a loophole for immigrant families and led to an average of 565 children coming to the border per day.

“While the number of children in Border Patrol custody is setting new records once again this week, immigration lawyers tell NBC News that some migrant families are choosing to send their children to the southern border alone because they see it as the best chance for remaining in the U.S.” – NBC News

Bottom line: It’s time for President Biden and his Democrat allies to admit the surge of unaccompanied minors at the border is a crisis of their own making.
