Democrats’ Push to End Filibuster Puts Their Hypocrisy on Full Display

Senate Democrats are calling for an end to the filibuster while conveniently leaving out the fact that it’s the same tool they used to block Republican legislation for the last four years. Some Senators, such as Elizabeth Warren, have gone so far as to say the filibuster is used to promote racism and needs to be eliminated so they can move forward with their progressive agenda.

However, according to a report from Fox News, Senate Democrats had no issue using it to block anti-abortion bills, coronavirus relief, and other legislation put forward by Republicans.

“Forty-one Democratic senators voted to block the born-alive bill by filibustering the legislation and preventing it from advancing to a floor vote. 

“In addition, Senate Democrats filibustered Republican’s $500 billion coronavirus relief bill in September after blocking Republicans on a procedural vote for a separate $1.6 trillion coronavirus relief package twice in March 2020.” –Fox News

The article also mentions that Democrats blocked consideration of a police reform bill written and introduced by Senator Tim Scott (R-SC). Democrats using the filibuster on this legislation flies in the face of their current rhetoric. 

Now, after being dealt a major blow by Senate rules on their federal $15 minimum wage mandate, Democrats have renewed their push to end the filibuster by claiming it’s unconstitutional.

Bottom line: Democrats know their radical liberal agenda is completely out of touch with the American people. That’s why they consistently attempt to change the rules rather than garner bipartisan support.
