Evan Bayh Possibly Commits Election Felony
Evan Bayh’s campaign is in desperate straits, but that doesn’t mean he can potentially violate the law to improve his prospects. Yesterday, Bayh’s official campaign Twitter account showed him giving bottles of water to voters standing in line for early voting:
According to Indiana law though, this could be a Level 6 felony:
“A person who, for the purpose of inducing or procuring another person to:
(1) apply for or cast an absentee ballot; or
(2) vote or refrain from voting for or against a candidate or for or against a public question at an election or political convention;
gives, offers, or promises to any person any money or other property commits a Level 6 felony.”
Now just because Bayh is no stranger to breaking the law as a Senator doesn’t mean he can violate the law as a candidate too.
