Feingold Continues Out Of State Cash Chase In California
Sen. Russ Feingold has been spending a lot of time in California lately to teach his fall semester class at Stanford University, and he’s apparently such a big fan of the Golden State he’s extending his trips. He jetted into Palo Alto early for a Sunday fundraiser (skipping out on a Packers game just a few miles away):
But when Sen. Feingold caught up with an America Rising tracker on his way to teach class at Stanford on Monday, he didn’t want to talk about it:
Style points for the backpack, Senator.
That’s not the only out-of-state money that Sen. Feingold is raking in. A new report from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reveals that the majority of outside spending in the race is benefitting Sen. Feingold:
Beyond that, Feingold is the beneficiary of heavy spending by third-party groups early in the contest.
Unofficially, it appears that five liberal groups — led by the League of Conservation Voters— have already spent or have bought airtime worth $1.8 million in the race.
That’s at least $300,000 more than the three outside conservative groups have poured into helping Johnson, who defeated Feingold in 2010…
…In short, Feingold — long a champion of campaign finance reform — is getting a lot of help from friends and allies outside Wisconsin.
