UPDATED: Former DNC Chair Ed Rendell Slams Clinton SnapChat Joke

The ill-advised SnapChat joke heard ‘round the world continues to garner bad press for Hillary Clinton, with one of her staunchest supporters going on the record to call her remark “tone deaf.” Former Pennsylvania governor and longtime Clinton surrogate Ed Rendell ramped up his recent criticism of Hillary Clinton’s campaign, telling the Huffington Post’s Sam Stein:

“It’s tone deaf,” said former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, referring to the campaign’s decision this week to dismiss the email controversy with a quip about SnapChat. “Can you imagine making a joke about this in the middle of it all?”

This isn’t the first time Rendell has spoken out about the Clinton campaign’s struggles, last week he acknowledged that her email scandal “has hurt Hillary on the question of trust”:

And appearing on MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Monday, he decried Clinton’s lack of “authenticity,” comparing her unfavorably to rival Bernie Sanders and panning her campaign strategy:

Rendell has come a long way since May, when he was telling other Democrats not to even bother running against Clinton.

UPDATE: Rendell doubled down on his criticism of Clinton Monday afternoon, repeating the “tone deaf” charge during an appearance on MSNBC:
