Hillary Clinton’s National Lead Continues To Slip

NBC News/Wall Street Journal released a new poll today, which shows Hillary Clinton leading Bernie Sanders 53 percent to 44 percent. This is the first time that Clinton has led Sanders by just single digits in a national poll, something that Clinton’s campaign must find distressing.

The poll found Sanders leading Clinton with several key groups.

Among independents Sanders leads Clinton 59 percent to 35 percent; with liberals Sanders leads Clinton 56 percent to 42 percent; and with voters under 50 Sanders leads Clinton 60 percent to 38 percent.

The number that is probably most unnerving for the Clinton campaign is that Clinton finds herself trailing Sanders when it comes to women ages 18 to 49, a demographic that was once thought to be safely in Clinton’s corner, by a 54 percent-to-44 percent margin.
