House Democrats Leave Town Empty-Handed as 2019 Session Nears End

A day after House Democrats passed their baseless impeachment inquiry resolution with bipartisan opposition, they’re headed back to their districts to face their constituents. Given how this week has gone, they probably shouldn’t hold their breath for a red carpet reception.

The Democrats’ relentless obsession with impeachment has become their entire agenda. Only 16 legislative session days remain in 2019 and Speaker Pelosi still hasn’t approved President Trump’s historic trade agreement, which would create 176,000 family-supporting jobs and raise U.S. real GDP by $68.2 billion.

Instead, they’ve spent their time conducting a hyper-partisan impeachment inquiry that’s shrouded in secrecy and lacks any sense of due process. Even members of Speaker Pelosi’s own caucus are sounding the alarm over their party’s “divisive” actions, which threaten to tear the country apart at the seams.

If the previous recess was any indication, expect the feedback from constituents regarding impeachment to be overwhelmingly negative. That will inevitably increase the pressure on vulnerable Democrats to stop chasing their impeachment fantasy and start delivering results for the American people.
