With thin majorities in both chambers of Congress, these liberal squabbles open the door even wider for Republicans to win back the majority in 2022.

If It’s a Day that Ends in Y, Dems are in Disarray

Internal squabbles among Congressional Democrats took center stage this week as Joe Biden embarked on his first foreign trip as president and Kamala Harris attempted, and failed, to satisfy some of her border czar responsibilities.

Further distracting from the president and vice president’s efforts abroad, Representative Ilhan Omar received backlash from both sides of the aisle this week after sending out a tweet equating the United States and Israel to terrorist groups like Hamas and the Taliban. A group of Jewish Democrats quickly fired back and released a statement of their own criticizing Omar’s comment.

The group called it “offensive” and “misguided,” sparking a sharp response from Omar accusing their statement of being “Islamaphobic” and saying the members were harassing her. Fellow members of the squad — such as Rashida Tlaib, AOC, and Cori Bush — quickly came to her defense.

Ultimately, the squabbling got so insane Nancy Pelosi had to step in and issue a public statement saying Omar’s comment “foments prejudice and undermines progress.” She and other House leaders who signed onto the letter said they looked forward to receiving clarification on it. Omar eventually issued that clarification.

DNC Chair Jaime Harrison also got in on the action by turning his aim towards one of their own during an interview with MSNBC Thursday. Harrison came out swinging against Joe Manchin for his refusal to cave to the radicals in his party on S1. Harrison said that Manchin was “against America” for opposing abolishing the filibuster and supporting a federal takeover of our election system.

The Hill: “Progressive lawmakers have said Manchin is needlessly standing in the way of progress, with one Democrat referring to the Senator from West Virginia this week as the ‘new Mitch McConnell.’”

Democrats issued poor reviews of the administration’s handling of immigration and the border crisis. Kamala Harris’ unsuccessful trip to Guatemala and Mexico made for some rough headlines that not even progressives could defend.

The administration’s immigration response is failing to please anyone in their party, including Democrats from border states and radical members of the squad.

Whitney Robertson, Deputy Press Secretary at America Rising PAC: “Democrats’ agenda is so insane and out of touch, they cannot even get all the members of their own party to unite behind it. With thin majorities in both chambers of Congress, these liberal squabbles open the door even wider for Republicans to win back the majority in 2022.”
