How The Illegal House Campaign Finance Scheme Worked
This week was full of bad news for California Democrat Ami Bera and several other House Democrats who received contributions from Bera’s father Babulal.
On Tuesday, Babulal Bera pleaded guilty to laundering over $250,000 in contributions to his son’s 2010 and 2012 campaigns. But Babulal Bera’s donations didn’t stop there. He also gave money to Democrats including Florida Senate candidate Patrick Murphy and California Rep. Scott Peters. The scandal reverberated throughout these campaigns as the Democrats desperately rushed to return the tainted money.
