Is Hillary Clinton Saying One Thing In Public And One Thing In Private On Coal?
Alison Lundergan Grimes is a close family friend of Hillary and Bill Clinton. The Lundergans and the Clintons are so close that even as Grimes was getting blown out in 2014, the Clintons repeatedly came to campaign for her, more than “virtually any other Senate candidate this cycle.” Bill Clinton even appeared in TV ad for her.
Now though, Grimes has repaid the Clintons by alleging that Hillary Clinton is not being honest about her coal plans. Clinton has been on hot water since her comments that her energy plan is “going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business.”
Grimes says that Clinton recent comments that she’s “going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business,” are “completely out of line with personal conversations that I have had with her”:
“‘I was very disappointed to hear the comments that came out of the debate,’ said Alison Lundergan Grimes, Kentucky’s secretary of state and a close friend of the Clinton family who received their endorsement during her unsuccessful challenge to McConnell in 2014. ‘My hope is she’ll have a chance to clarify those comments, comments that as I said were completely out of line with personal conversations that I have had with her.'”
If Grimes’ allegations are true, it would be fit with Clinton’s general approach this campaign. It’s no accident after all that Clinton’s honest and trustworthy numbers are so devastatingly bad, and “environmentalists remain skeptical” about Clinton’s record.
