Jeanne Shaheen And Hillary Clinton Both Failed On Boko Haram

Like Hillary Clinton, Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) has long ignored the true nature of terrorist group Boko Haram. Infamously, Clinton blocked Boko Haram’s designation as a foreign terrorist organization for years:

“The State Department under Hillary Clinton fought hard against placing the al Qaeda-linked militant group Boko Haram on its official list of foreign terrorist organizations for two years. And now, lawmakers and former U.S. officials are saying that the decision may have hampered the American government’s ability to confront the Nigerian group that shocked the world by abducting hundreds of innocent girls.”

Clinton’s actions prevented the U.S. government from fully taking on a group that is now the world’s deadliest terrorist group.

During her time in the Senate, Shaheen has also shown an inability to confront Boko Haram. In 2014, the New Hampshire Senator claimed that Islam had nothing to do with the group’s reign of terror:

JACKSON: “The message that all the Muslim leaders who have spoken out, whether religious leaders or political leaders have passed is that this is not about Islam, and I think that’s a very important point. Boko Haram’s philosophy is not an Islamic philosophy.” SHAHEEN: “I agree and I’m glad that you made that point. Clearly, we need to make sure that Islam is not confused with some of these horrible terrorist acts that have been and continue to be perpetrated by terrorists groups.”
