Throughout last week’s Democratic National Convention, there was no shortage of extreme rhetoric. DNC officials advocated for abolishing police, abolishing prisons and even removed “under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance. But among the sea of controversial figures given a platform by the DNC, radical activist Linda Sarsour stood head and shoulders above the rest.

Sarsour has a well-documented record anti-Semitism, such as praising Rasmea Odeh, a Palestinian-Arab terrorist responsible for murdering Jewish students. Sarsour has also been criticized for her close relationship with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, who once referred to Jews as “termites.” In 2017, she called for a “jihad” against President Donald Trump.

Once pressure mounted on Joe Biden to disavow Sarsour, his campaign released a statement claiming he “obviously disavowed her views.” But behind the scenes, top Biden officials were scrambling to apologize to Sarsour and begging her to “build back the trust” they had. No less than three of those officials issued separate apologies.

Biden foreign policy advisor Tony Blinken: “My apologies for what we did and what happened,” Blinken told attendees, pledging to continue the conversation with community advocates.

Biden coalitions director Ashley Allison: “I am sorry that that happened. And I hope that whatever trust was broken, that this conversation is one small step to help build back the trust, but that is not the last time we have this conversation.”

Biden spokesperson Symone Sanders: “That’s not how we do business… We are not in the business of condemning people and large swathes of the community, absolutely not.”

Bottom line: Joe Biden’s campaign not only regrets denouncing leading anti-Semite Linda Sarsour, but is now making overtures to strengthen their relationship. Worse yet, their private apology tour completely contradicts the message they want the American people to see.
