Joe Biden or Elizabeth Warren? A Lose-Lose is Developing for Democrats in 2020

If the last few weeks have taught us anything, it’s that the 2020 Democratic Primary is quickly narrowing to two main contenders: Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren.

Politico: “‘The rock star’ vs. ‘The rock’: Warren and Biden hurtle toward collision”

Axios: “Warren takes a swipe at Biden in front of record crowd in Seattle”

MSNBC: “As Biden makes electability case, Warren draws biggest campaign crowd yet”

This is a nightmare scenario for Democrats hoping to retake the White House, as each week brings a slew of gaffes from Biden and extreme policy proposals from Warren. Take last week for example:

  • In a rambling Iowa speech on Tuesday, Joe Biden recalled the assassinations of Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. “in the late 70’s” – a decade after they took place.
  • While campaigning in Keane, New Hampshire just a few days later, Biden became confused and thought he was in Vermont.
  • Elizabeth Warren announced her support for supervised drug injection sites, which would normalize illicit drug activity and increase crime in surrounding communities.
  • Warren spent the rest of the week defending her trade plan, which would prevent the U.S. from entering into trade deals with key allies and hurt millions of American workers.

The Biden-Warren matchup leaves Democrats in a no-win situation, forced to choose between the world’s most infamous gaffe machine and an advocate for a radical socialist agenda.
