Clean energy provisions within President Joe Biden’s new tax and spend “infrastructure” plan come with a hefty price tag, according to a recent editorial in The Washington Times, and middle-class Americans will be the ones to foot the bill.

“The Center for Strategic and International Studies analyzed the contents of Mr. Biden‘s plan and concluded that more than half (56%) “could be understood to address climate change.” Given the plan’s price tag of $2.65 trillion over eight years — or about $330 billion a year — that means that somewhere north of $180 billion would be spent on climate change each and every year of the plan.

“Is that a lot? Well, there are about 130 million households in the United States, so when you boil it all down, Mr. Biden would require American households, on average, to pay about $1,400 a year to address climate change.

“Yikes. $1,400 a year per household tax on energy seems like a lot, especially for those already struggling — the poor, the elderly, those on fixed incomes and local institutions.” – The Washington Times

President Biden claims this money will come from the pockets of big corporations who have failed to pay their share, but basic economics prove the cost will be passed down to everyday workers and consumers.

“Workers across the income scale would bear much of the tax increase. For example, the bottom 20 percent of earners would on average see a 1.5 percent drop in after-tax income in the long run.” – Tax Foundation

Bottom line: President Biden is leaving American families behind by saddling them with higher taxes and energy costs to pay for his radical multi-billion dollar energy agenda.
