Kamala Harris Chooses Presidential Campaign Over California Constituents, Skips Vote for Disaster Aid

2020 White House hopeful and California Senator Kamala Harris is skipping out on her day job as a US Senator to campaign for president. According to Politico, Harris was in Sacramento “courting the support of labor unions.” Roll Call also noted that she had a campaign event in Nevada the next day.

Her truancy from the Senate is not going unnoticed:

“Jim Manley, a Democratic strategist who worked for former Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, said he has no problem with senators missing votes from time to time. “But I would have advised Sen. Harris to be in town for yesterday’s votes,” he said.”

The disaster relief legislation that Kamala Harris didn’t vote on provided aid to her home state of California to help with reconstruction after the devastating wild fires. Clearly running for president is more important to Harris than helping Californians.
