While Democratic candidates across the country attempt to exploit the coronavirus pandemic to boost their fundraising, liberal dark money groups are running ads attacking President Trump’s response in targeted swing states.

“The ads are the newest addition to a handful of Democratic and progressive groups going after the president over his handling of the crisis, suggesting he is diverting coronavirus relief aid to ‘states which are important to his re-election.’”

In reality, the Trump administration’s aggressive response to the pandemic has been lauded by governors across the country – including some of his harshest critics.

California Governor Gavin Newsom: “I’d be lying to you to say that he hasn’t been responsive to our needs. He has,” Newsom told CNN’s Jake Tapper. “And so, as a question, as a sort of an offer of objectivity, I have to acknowledge that publicly.”

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo: “He is fully engaged on trying to help… He’s being very creative & very energetic and I thank him for his partnership.”

A recent Gallup poll also revealed that 60 percent of Americans approved of President Trump’s handling of the coronavirus crisis, with major gains among Democrats and independent voters.

Predictably, none of that has stopped Democratic candidates and liberal dark money groups from spending millions of dollars spreading lies ahead of the November election.
