Liberal Democrat Laughably Claims Party Is Upset With Him Because He Is Bipartisan
California Democrat Ami Bera, who has faced a year of criticism from his own base for votes on free trade and Syrian refugees, still does not seem to understand why his own party is upset with him. When asked why local Democrats don’t support him after withholding his endorsement last month, Bera said it’s because he is too bipartisan.
The problem with his claim of bipartisanship is that Bera is a reliable liberal Democrat. He votes with his party 91 percent of the time and votes with Nancy Pelosi 82 percent of the time. So Bera will have to come up with a better answer to this question if he hopes to win his party’s endorsement at the state convention at the end of this month.
