Liberal Group Caught Lying In Partisan Attack
The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), which touts itself as “the nation’s most effective environmental action group” on its website, launched an attack against a Republican senator that could only have worked on opposite day.
National Journal reports:
On Wednesday, the National Resource Defense Council blasted Sen. Mark Kirk over a Senate bill that would block the EPA’s power to limit carbon-dioxide emissions. The problem? The Illinois Republican actually voted against the resolution.
Oops. Clearly the ultra liberal operatives at NRDC were so secure in their view of Republicans that they didn’t feel the need to take 30 seconds to check the roll call vote. The problem for them is this gaffe is proof positive of either a deep ideological bias or a willingness to play fast and loose with the facts – likely both – and calls into question every attack they’ve made or will make against Republicans.
The report went on to establish that being 180-degrees wrong on the facts isn’t unique to fringe liberal groups like the NRDC. An official arm of the Democratic Party, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), made a similar mistake just weeks ago:
This isn’t the first time Kirk has been unfairly tagged for a vote this year, either. In September, the DSCC tweeted that Kirk, who supports abortion rights, has voted to defund Planned Parenthood. He hadnt’t.
Because why let the facts get in the way of scoring political points?
