Joe Biden likes to portray himself as “Middle Class Joe” on the campaign trail, but make no mistake: His lifestyle places him among the elite.

Take Biden’s current 12,000 square-foot residence in Virgina, for example. Purchased by a well-connected donor in 2016 for $4.25 million, his home is complete with five bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, marble fireplaces, a gym and a sauna. It also boasts parking to accomodate “over 20 cars” for “the most lavish of events.”

According to a video listing for the property obtained by The Washington Post:

‘Surrounded by Washington elite and sitting high above the Potomac River, there is an undeniable grandeur in the design of this home,’ said the British-accented agent in a video released when it went on the market in 2015. ‘This property makes an imposing statement with parking for over 20 cars and creates a perfect setting for the most lavish of events.’

In 2017, Joe and Jill Biden also purchased a vacation home for $2.7 million in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, in addition to their existing home in Wilmington worth more than $1.2 million.

In Biden’s 2007 autobiography, he recalled the time he spent thinking about real estate:

“I’d thought about houses quite a bit already. My idea of Saturday fun was to jump in the Corvette with Neilia and drive around the Wilmington area scouting open houses, houses for sale, land where we could build.”

Looking at the images of these multimillion-dollar homes, it doesn’t exactly paint a picture of frugality. Further dispelling the “Middle Class Joe” myth, the income he collects from just one paid speech is more than most Americans make over the course of several years. Recent tax returns also reveal the Bidens have made more than $15 million in the time since leaving the vice presidency.

Joe Biden is not an everyday American. He’s a member of the Washington elite with no concept of the challenges faced by hard-working families.
