Most Expensive Thanksgiving Ever? Blame Joe Biden.

Your Thanksgiving meal could be “the most expensive meal in the history of the holiday” because of rising inflation and supply shortages brought on by an incompetent Biden-Harris administration. Suppliers and retailers are also warning that some items may be completely unavailable, forcing families to go without Thanksgiving staples.

New York Post: John Catsimatidis, the billionaire owner of the Gristedes supermarket chain, said New Yorkers better be ready to pony up at least 10 to 15 percent more for their Thanksgiving ingredients — and that’s if they can find them.

Many of Gristedes’ main suppliers on goods ranging from dairy and frozen foods to other groceries have initiated “routine rationing,” SAID Catsimatidis, explaining that his stores are only getting between 50 and 75 percent of some orders.

The American Farm Bureau said that the average Thanksgiving meal will cost 5 percent more this year than in 2020. But some items, including beef, poultry, fish and eggs will cost at least 10 percent more.

Seattle Times: Matthew McClure paid 20% more this month than he did last year for the 25 pasture-raised turkeys he plans to roast at the Hive, the Bentonville, Arkansas, restaurant where he is the executive chef. And Norman Brown, director of sweet-potato sales for Wada Farms in Raleigh, North Carolina, is paying truckers nearly twice as much as usual to haul the crop to other parts of the country. . .

Nearly every component of the traditional American Thanksgiving dinner, from the disposable aluminum turkey roasting pan to the coffee and pie, will cost more this year, according to agricultural economists, farmers and grocery executives. Major food companies like Nestlé and Procter & Gamble have already warned consumers to brace for more price increases.

Jaysun Lusk, an agricultural economist at Purdue University, blamed reckless government spending for the price increases.

New York Post: There are “overall inflationary pressures” driving all prices up thanks largely to the pandemic-related government spending that pumped huge amounts of money into the economy throughout the pandemic.

The supply chain crisis and resulting shortages, which Democrats have called a “good thing” and “high class problems,” are also forcing prices higher.

Bottom Line: Working families will pay more or go without this Thanksgiving because of Joe Biden and congressional Democrats’ reckless spending and incompetent management of the supply chain crisis.
