MUST WATCH: Comey On Clinton’s Private Email Server, Ducks On Clinton Foundation
Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) and the House Oversight Committee just finished a hearing with FBI Director James Comey concerning his decision to not recommend an indictment in the Hillary Clinton criminal investigation. The hearing brought only bad headlines and sound bites for Clinton.
Notably, when Chairman Chaffetz turned the discussion to the scandals surrounding the Clinton Foundation, Director Comey refused to even comment on the matter. The Clinton Foundation is no stranger to government investigations, having been subpoenaed by the State Department.
Throughout the hearing, Director Comey explained to members of Congress, among other things, that Clinton lied to the American people, that she would have faced “consequences” if she worked for the FBI, and that the former Secretary of State jeopardized national security with her unsecure holding of classified information:
The Hill: “Clinton could’ve been fired for email use at FBI”
Politico: “FBI director: Clinton’s statements were not true”
Politico: “FBI director: Clinton not ‘particularly sophisticated’ with classified info”
New York Times: “Did Clinton Give Her Lawyers Access to Classified Documents?”
Over Comey’s almost five hours of testimony his answers presented one problem after another for Clinton’s presidential campaign. See below for some of the most important moments from Director Comey’s appearance before the House Oversight Committee:
