New York Democrat Claims Obama Has “Done A Great Job”
Steve Williams, a Democrat running in New York’s 24th Congressional District, was recently asked about President Obama’s job performance. Williams gushed over Obama, saying, “I think he’s done a a great job.” In case there was any confusion about where Williams stands, he later explained that he would not be one of the Democrats running away from Obama.
In defending the unpopular president, Williams said that the country is better off than it was eight years ago. Americans clearly disagree, as 63.6 percent say the country is headed in the wrong direction in the latest Real Clear Politics average.
Williams will have to defend a lot of Obama’s unpopular policies, from ObamaCare to the economy to controversial foreign policy measures like the Iran nuclear deal and his handling of ISIS, from now until the election.
WRVO’S GRANT REEHER: “What sort of job do you think Barack Obama has done as president?” WILLIAMS: “Well overall if you look at the numbers, I think he’s done a great job. You look at where we were when he took office, and where we are now, and you have to say he’s done a good job. The Republicans used to use a line years ago, ‘Are you better off than you were four years ago?’ You remember that, right, Grant? Well, we are better off as a nation than we were eight years. Does that mean that I agree with everything that President Obama has done? No, it doesn’t mean that, alright? And if you go through policy after policy and if you and I had a couple days to chat, I’m sure we could come up with some things where I don’t agree with him.” REEHER: “But there are some Democrats out there that are in a sense running against the president. That’s not you?” WILLIAMS: “That is not me. No. He’s done a lot of good things.”
