The Daily Caller: Sanders Supporter And US Senate Candidate Says Hillary Should Drop Out If Indicted [VIDEO]
Hillary Clinton should drop out of the presidential race if she is indicted by the Justice Department, U.S. Senate candidate Kevin Griffin said Friday at a Bernie Sanders rally in Raleigh, North Carolina.
“Certainly everybody is innocent until proven guilty,” Griffin, a Durham business owner, told a tracker with the Republican research group America Rising PAC.
“If she were indicted it would throw a cloud over her, and I think that would have to be something she should seriously consider,” added Griffin, who faces three other Democrats in Tuesday’s primary. The winner will face Republican incumbent Richard Burr in November.
Sanders himself has been hesitant to criticize Clinton over her emails and the FBI’s ongoing investigation into whether classified information was mishandled on her email server.
And during a debate on Wednesday, Clinton denied that she will be indicted. When asked about that scenario by debate moderator Jorge Ramos, she said, angrily, “I’m not even going to answer that.”
But America Rising PAC executive director Colin Reed said that questions about the FBI investigation will not dissipate. He told The Daily Caller that his group will continue to pressure other Democratic candidates on the issue.
“Make no mistake: we’re going to make Secretary Clinton’s ethical woes a problem for Democrats up and down the ballot this fall,” Reed told TheDC. “With the FBI investigation ongoing, Democrat candidates are going to face scrutiny about their party’s standard bearer being overwhelmingly viewed as dishonest and untrustworthy.”
