On her way to Los Angeles for the weekend, Kamala Harris had a quick layover in El Paso, Texas so she could claim to have visited the border for the first time since being named Biden’s border czar nearly 100 days ago.

There’s just one problem: Instead of visiting the part of the border that has been hit the hardest by the record number of migrants flooding into the country, Harris is visiting a politically safe part of the state that is protected by the border wall.

America Rising PAC Executive Director Cassie Smedile as reported by KTSM in El Paso: “I think it’s a good thing. It’s important that she gets down there, but unfortunately, it’s the wrong part of the border.”

“Hats off to the people of El Paso for having a good system and having a compassionate system, but if you want to get to the root of this issue, you have to go to where this crisis is raging.”

According to a report from the Washington Examiner, Harris’ visit is “800 miles away from the region that is seeing more than double the normal amount of illegal immigration.”

Washington Examiner: “Since the start of the government’s fiscal year in October 2020, the Rio Grande Valley has seen the most illegal immigration, nearly two and a half times as many migrant encounters as the El Paso region. From October through May, Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley apprehended 271,927 people, compared to 113,824 in El Paso, according to federal data.”

She’s even avoiding visiting a migrant housing facility located right outside of El Paso that is in a state of chaos as reported by CBS News

Kamala’s trip has already received pushback from Democrat lawmakers in border districts. Rep. Henry Cuellar, who’s been pleading for the vice president to visit the border for months, criticized Harris for not visiting the “epicenter” of the crisis.

Cuellar went on to call Harris’ trip “politically safe” and an opportunity to “check the box.”

Democrat Rep. Vicente Gonzalez also slammed Harris’ decision to go to El Paso over the Rio Grande Valley, which would give her a better look at the magnitude of the Biden administration’s border crisis.

The Dallas Morning News: “‘I don’t understand how they decided on El Paso…. Clearly most of the surge is in the Rio Grande Valley.’ said Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, a McAllen Democrat whose district has hosted a number of congressional visits in recent months…”

Bottom line: Kamala Harris’ blatant photo op in El Paso proves that the Biden-Harris administration is still not capable of addressing the border crisis they created with their open border agenda.
