One Thing You Won’t Hear Hillary Clinton Say In Texas Today
This afternoon, Hillary Clinton is attending a rally at Mountain View College in Dallas. There, you can expect to hear Hillary Clinton give her standard stump speech (and probably attempt to clean up the mess she made for herself on Saturday night’s debate stage in Iowa).
But one thing you won’t likely hear? Clinton repeat the line she delivered just over a week ago in New Hampshire when she was asked about securing our border with Mexico:
CLINTON: “Look, I voted numerous times when I was a senator to spend money to build a barrier to try to prevent illegal immigrants from coming in. And I do think you have to control your borders.”
Clinton’s past Texas event have been designed to “build grassrooots support and solidify Hispanic support.” So instead, Clinton will likely repeat the line she used in Nevada—another state with a large Hispanic population—back in May when she said she would “do everything I possibly can” to help immigrants and go beyond President Obama’s executive actions on immigration.
Why the change in tone? Because Clinton will say or do anything to win, which means telling New Hampshire one thing about immigration and Texas another.
