Pro-Choice Washington, D.C. Interest Group Endorses Grimes

This morning, in an announcement that will play better in Washington than with Kentuckians, the pro-choice Washington, DC interest group EMILY’s List endorsed Alison Lundergan Grimes, the Democrat in Kentucky’s Senate race. Considering that Grimes told The Huffington Post earlier this month that “she was pro-choice down the line on abortion,” the campaign welcomed the endorsement from the Obama Washington Democrat establishment. However, while Grimes’ position is welcomed in the White House, Harry Reid’s office and EMILY’s list, it’s out-of touch with Kentucky.

According to Pew Research, Kentucky is part of the region in the country with “the least support for abortion.” And a Courier-Journal Bluegrass Poll during last year’s presidential election found that 55% of likely voters in Kentucky considered themselves pro-life, only 39% were pro-choice.

Alison Lundergan Grimes proves yet again that her positions play better with Harry Reid and Barack Obama than with Kentuckians.
