Progressives Put Their Radical Agenda on Full Display

As Democrats’ calls to abolish the police and pack the courts grow louder and louder, will Joe Biden continue to fall in line with the progressive members of his party or take a stand against ideas that help no one other than the left’s radical activists?

Progressives Put Their Radical Agenda on Full Display

Democrats ratcheted up their embrace of the left’s radical agenda this week as a prominent House progressive advocated for eliminating the police and incarceration, a House committee approved a D.C. statehood bill, and Democrats in both chambers unveiled a bill to rig the Supreme Court in their favor.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib, a leader of the left in Congress, advocated for an end to policing and incarceration.

The call to end policing and incarceration comes as the United States is experiencing a significant uptick in violent crime.

CNN: “Sixty-three of the 66 largest police jurisdictions saw increases in at least one category of violent crimes in 2020, which include homicide, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault, according to a report produced by the Major Cities Chiefs Association.”

Contributing to the uptick in crime is ‘de-policing’ in major cities along with the early release of criminal defendants from jails.

CNN: “Experts point to a “perfect storm” of factors — economic collapse, social anxiety because of a pandemic, de-policing in major cities after protests that called for abolition of police departments, shifts in police resources from neighborhoods to downtown areas because of those protests, and the release of criminal defendants pretrial or before sentences were completed to reduce risk of Covid-19 spread in jails — all may have contributed to the spike in homicides.

In an effort to consolidate their power on Capitol Hill, a Democrat-led House committee approved a bill that would grant D.C. statehood and pave the way for Democrats to create extra seats in Congress.

The bill passed on a 25-19 party-line vote, a far different outcome from a 1993 vote on D.C. statehood when more than 100 Democrats voted no on the issue — including House majority leader Steny Hoyer.

ABC News: “Local lawmakers such as Hoyer had opposed the push for statehood in part because they feared it would allow the district to impose a commuter tax on Maryland and Virginia residents entering the city for work, according to a 1993 Washington Post report.

“Since then, the issue has moved from a fringe proposal from local activists to one that has garnered unanimous support from Democratic Party leaders and is mentioned in the same breadth as voting rights legislation on the party’s agenda.”

And finally, a group of Congressional Democrats introduced legislation that would add four extra seats to the Supreme Court. The effort is spearheaded by dark money entity Demand Justice, which has spent its time trying to force California Senator Dianne Feinstein to retire and instructing Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer to step down from the court.

This effort comes on the heels of President Joe Biden’s decision to assemble a commission on Supreme Court reform in wake of calls from the far left to rig the court in their own favor.

Democrats may only have slim majorities in the Senate and the House, but they’ve made it clear they feel like they have a new champion for their radical agenda in Joe Biden.

Daily Beast: “But it is also true that Biden has taken a number of steps since the inauguration that support the contention that his will be not just a presidency that periodically reflects the views of the party’s left wing, but one that actually systematically advances the progressive agenda.”

Now, the big question is: As Democrats’ calls to abolish the police and pack the courts grow louder and louder, will Joe Biden continue to fall in line with the progressive members of his party or take a stand against ideas that help no one other than the left’s radical activists?

Whitney Robertson, Deputy Press Secretary at America Rising PAC: “Progressives have been very straightforward about their goals to push Biden further left, and so far, they have succeeded. Time will tell if they’re able to use Biden to get their liberal wishlist to the finish line.”
