Prominent Democrat Warns Party ‘Headed for a Wipeout’

Former Democrat presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg warned that his party is “headed for a wipeout in November, up and down the ballot”. Bloomberg pointed to conservative victories in Virginia, New Jersey and San Francisco as signs that Republicans could retake control of both houses of Congress and win competitive state and local races.

Bloomberg wrote that Democrats’ school shutdowns and focus on radical culture war issues is a political liability.

Bloomberg: First, the school board members failed to show any urgency in reopening schools even when it was clear that doing so was safe — and that remote classes were leaving students further and further behind. As private schools opened, public schools remained closed. . .

Second, the school board members seemed more concerned with political correctness than educating children. Instead of reopening schools, they spent their time renaming them, stripping off the names of historic figures like George Washington and Abraham Lincoln before a public outcry forced them to reverse course. Meanwhile, parents struggled to keep their heads above water as they tried to manage having their children at home. . .

Third, the school board members voted to eliminate merit-based admissions at one of the nation’s top-performing schools. Students had long been admitted based on their grades and tests, until the board moved to a lottery system. Make no mistake: Lowering standards in the name of fairness only exacerbates injustice and inequality. 

Republicans are ready to capitalize on Democrats’ radical policies. Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, who fought back against federal government overreach, will deliver the Republican response to Joe Biden’s State of the Union address — giving voters a clear alternative to Biden and the Democrats’ unpopular, failing agenda.

Fox News: Reynolds has been among a group of Republican governors who’ve pushed back against what they consider government overreach during the coronavirus, the worst pandemic to strike the globe in a century. And the national attention Reynolds has landed has boosted her standing as a rising star in the GOP.

“Republican governors across America are leading the charge in defending liberty and securing unmatched economic prosperity in our states,” Reynolds said in a statement. “The Biden administration is governing from the far-left, ignoring the problems of working-class Americans while pushing an agenda that stifles free speech, free thought, and economic freedom. The American people have had enough, but there is an alternative and that’s what I look forward to sharing on Tuesday evening.”

Bottom Line: Radical Democrats kept schools closed and allowed woke politics to infiltrate classrooms. Now, voters are angry and some prominent Democrats warn the party could be facing a “wipeout.”
