Raul Grijalva: Only One Candidate Stood Up To Wall Street (Hint: Not Clinton)

Congressman Raul Grijalva (D-AZ) was the first Congressional member to endorse Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT). As a prominent Sanders supporter, Grijalva took a lead role in pushing back against Clinton’s attacks and touting Sanders’ record.

Grijalva attacked Clinton’s Wall Street record saying Sanders “already stood up to Wall Street,” in contrast to Clinton who had not. Grijalva also said that Sanders was the only “authentic” candidate:

“‘I support Bernie Sanders for one simple reason: he is authentic. If he gives his word, it is done. The values that Bernie has are the values of this country,’ Grijalva, co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, says in  ‘Valores,’ a Spanish-language ad.’”

Grijalva also was part of the Sanders’ team that pushed back on Clinton’s immigration reform attacks. Grijalva claimed that Clinton’s attacks were motivated by political desperation:

“‘At the end of the day these attacks on Bernie are only a consequence of a campaign that has now proven resilient and very, very strong,’ Grijalva said. ‘And it’s more an act of desperation than it is an act of truth.’”
