Ripped From The Headlines: Clinton’s Western Wasteland

Over the weekend, Secretary Clinton lost every state in which she competed. Contests were held in Washington state, Alaska and Hawaii.

Not only did Clinton lose each one, but she did so in spectacular fashion:

Clinton: 27.1%

Sanders: 72.7%

Clinton: 18.4%

Sanders: 81.6%

Clinton: 30.0%

Sanders: 69.8%

Not surprisingly, the press used terms like “crushes,” “trounces,” and “resoundingly defeats” to describe Clinton’s losses:

The Guardian: Sanders crushes Clinton in Alaska Democratic caucuses and leads in Washington

Fusion: Bernie Sanders resoundingly defeats Hillary Clinton in Washington, Alaska

Bloomberg: Sanders Beats Clinton in Three Caucuses to Bolster Campaign

New York Times: Bernie Sanders Seizes 3 States, Sweeping Democratic Contests

KUOW: Bernie Sanders Trounces Hillary Clinton In Washington Caucuses

The Hill: Sanders scores big Washington win

Washington Post: Bernie Sanders’s huge Washington win was exactly what his campaign needed

Western Saturday didn’t really shake out like Clinton and her campaign had hoped, and it caps a week in which Clinton lost five of six contests. Sealing the nomination just got that much more difficult…
