Sanders & Warren Alliance Could Cause Trouble For Clinton
Last week, a piece of legislation was introduced that could cause headaches for Secretary Clinton. Her primary rival, Bernie Sanders, has teamed up with liberal darling Elizabeth Warren to introduce legislation that they claim would “toughen rules” on Wall Street.
Clinton’s Wall Street ties, in particular closed-door speeches she gave for $675,000, have become a frequent target of Sanders’ criticism against Clinton. In addition, Warren’s neutrality in the Democratic primary has been seen as a knock against Clinton, who has not earned Warren’s backing and perhaps trust on this issue.
So Clinton finds herself at a crossroads: support this legislation and appear to be following Sanders’ lead on an issue important to the liberal wing of the Democratic Party, or oppose it for political reasons and upset the supporters she will need most in a general election.
