Slipping in Polls, Elizabeth Warren Pivots from Policy to Fictitious Personal Stories

Elizabeth Warren’s advantage in early primary states has all but evaporated after she endured weeks of attacks from her rivals over the cost of Medicare For All. As reported by The Boston Globe, that harsh reality is prompting Warren and her allies to shift her campaign’s messaging away from policy and toward her personal story.

“As the crucial Iowa caucuses approach, Warren’s strategy appears to have hit a wall. She has found herself mired in the political quicksand of her most controversial plan, Medicare for All, after she was forced to spell out her support for a government takeover of health insurance when her rivals pilloried her for being uncharacteristically vague on the matter.”

While that strategy may seem to be the only viable path forward for Warren’s campaign, it’s potentially even more damaging than her radical and unrealistic policy proposals:

  • Warren has been repeatedly exposed for lying about her background, including last month when she claimed her children attended public schools. In reality, her son “spent the majority of his formative years at one of the country’s most elite private schools, the Haverford School.”
  • A story Warren regularly tells on the campaign trail about being fired from a teaching job for being pregnant was directly contradicted by previous statements she made, as well as county records which indicate she resigned.
  • We also can’t forget that Warren was forced to go on an apology tour for falsely claiming Native American heritage, potentially using minority status to advance her academic career.

These personal vulnerabilities are exacerbated by the brutal response to many of her far-left policies. Axios highlighted many of those policies in a “reality check” on her agenda. Warren’s proposals for a wealth tax, Medicare For All, the Green New Deal, and decriminalizing illegal border crossings are either deeply unpopular with her own party or have no chance of becoming law.

Whether Elizabeth Warren continues to focus on her disastrous policy agenda or pivots to her fictitious personal stories, it will only reinforce her fraudulent and dishonest image among voters.
