Um, Mary… You Promised It Too

Mary Landrieu’s first 2014 re-election ad centers on the President’s promise that if you like your plan you can keep it. But conveniently left out is that Landrieu herself made that promise too:

LANDRIEU: “While those individuals who like the coverage they already have will be able to keep their current plan. This is a very accurate description of this bill before us. The Patient Protection And Affordability Act. It’s very accurate.”

Not only did Landrieu promise her constituents that if they liked their plan they could keep it, but even after finding out that almost 93k Louisianans are losing their health insurance, Landrieu refused to apologize:

BLITZER: “Like the president you want to apologize to the people of Louisiana?” SEN. LANDRIEU: “They — listen, they know that I’m going to fight hard for them.”

Twice.

BLITZER: “Basically you said what the president said. Any regrets?” SEN. LANDRIEU: “No, Wolf, none whatsoever because I meant it when I said it.”
