VIDEO: Biden: Democrats Don’t Treat Working Class Americans With Respect

During the 2016 campaign, one of Hillary Clinton’s worst moments was when she admitted that one of her goals was to “put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business.” The disdain many working class men and women felt Clinton had for them was perfectly encapsulated in that one moment.

Top Democrats now have the benefit of hindsight and are working to examine why they came up so short on Election Day. Speaking this morning on CNN’s State of the Union, Vice President Joe Biden was asked why Hillary Clinton failed to connect with working class Americans. During his answer Vice President Biden took Clinton and many Democrats to task for exhibiting a lack of respect for working class Americans that many saw in Clinton’s coal comments:

Biden went on to say that Clinton “paid a price” for never finding a way to adequately address the real economic pain that many are still feeling in this country. As Democrats work to rebuild their fractured party, Biden’s diagnosis is not a comforting one.
