VIDEO: Clinton Spends Eight Minutes Dodging Support For Merrick Garland
President Obama’s Supreme Court pick Merrick Garland has Hillary Clinton caught between a rock and a hard place. On the one hand, she wants to show loyalty to President Obama, which she’s routinely done by attacking Bernie Sanders for his perceived slights toward the president. For that reason alone, she can’t come out against Garland.
Yet at the same time, Clinton also wants to prevent Bernie Sanders from outflanking her on the left, since Sanders has said he’d ask Obama to withdraw Garland.
This afternoon, Clinton’s inability to have her cake and eat it too culminated after her speech on the Supreme Court in Madison. Clinton was asked if Garland fits the criteria she has for nominating someone to the Supreme Court. Clinton proceeded to spend the next eight minutes using all the means at her disposal to dodge the question.
Not once did she answer the direct questions that were posed to her on her supposed support for President Obama’s pick. It was another example of the Clintons’ famous brand of empty rhetoric.
